New Director of Rowing Programs & Facilities/Head Coach

Good afternoon all,

It is my distinct pleasure and honor to introduce Nathan Walker ’05 as the next Director of Rowing Programs and Facilities at Purdue University.

Nathan began his rowing career at Purdue in 2000.  He graduated with a B.A. in English Secondary Education and a minor in Philosophy in 2005.  He rowed Fall 2000 through Spring 2004.  He was voted Most Valuable Oarsman twice (’03, ’04) and he stroked the V8 in 2004 to a 2nd place finish at the Dad Vail Regatta.  In 2003 and 2004, Purdue Crew earned the Women’s, Men’s and Overall Team points trophies at both the SIRA and the Dad Vail regattas.

For the 2005-2006 academic year, Nathan served as the Novice Men’s Rowing Coach at Purdue where his novice men earned medals at both the SIRA and Dad Vail regattas.  This provided a great base for the Varsity Men over the next 3 years.

In subsequent years, Nathan was the Head Coach for the Masters Women at Alexandria Community Rowing Club, the Head Coach at Fairfax High School, the Director of Rowing at The College of William and Mary Rowing Club, the Head Coach at Norcal Crew (a Middle & High School Club) and, most recently, the Director of Rowing at Culver Academies while also being the Associate Director of College Advising at Culver.

Nathan brings over 15 years of coaching and rowing program management across all levels of rowing; club, high school and collegiate environments.  He has a proven track record of successfully coaching teams to unprecedented levels of national competitive success and he is skilled at student-athlete mentoring, staff development, fundraising, program strategy, and fostering stakeholder relationships.

Coach Walker’s first official day will be July 12 (virtually) and then in person beginning August 1.  I am looking forward to welcoming Nathan back to Purdue and ensuring a thorough turnover is completed.  As you have time, please welcome Coach Nathan Walker in his new role.

Go Boilers!
